Kelani LarsenKelani Larsen is a musician, educator, and mother. She studied music at LCC and is a founding member of the band The Ovulators, who won Eugene Weekly’s “Best Local Rock Band” in 2005 and starred in two runs of the rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
Through her work with children with disabilities in the 4J School District, Kelani developed a working knowledge of basic American Sign Language and built a large repertoire of circle-time songs. Drawing on these lived experiences, she began developing Baby Pop Music as a volunteer with Daisy Chain after the birth of her son in 2013, creating an interactive singing and signing playgroup for babies and their caretakers. Over the years, she expanded the program to include toddlers and then preschoolers and continued to refine its curriculum. In 2018, Kelani was hired as a Daisy Chain employee to continue offering free music classes to the community. She now directs the Daisy Chain Music Program, teaches the Daisy’s Sing & Sign classes, develops curriculum, fosters community, and leads the Daisy Chain Music Team, while continuing to develop Baby Pop Music as an independent project. |

Daisy's Sing & Sign gives families support in learning the stress relieving tools of singing and using sign language. Parenting is so much more fun with tools under your belt!
Daisy's Sing & Sign offers a fun environment to interact with other families through singing and dancing together with small group classes multiple times a week. Most classes are developed for infants through five year old children and take place at our community center, Daisy's Place, just 4 blocks from the Eugene downtown public bus station. Our Tuesday afternoon classes have moved indoors until April (weather permitting). On Fridays, we offer our original music class format for families and caretakers of infants. These classes take place in Daisy's Place's Sunset Room with comfortable couches. This format is unlike the other classes in that there is no structure, and is focused on the developmental stage of infants. This is a drop in format following Nursing Nook. Unfortunately, we have to cancel this week's infant class due to instructor illness. The next Baby Sing & Sign class is Friday, February 13th, drop in 1:00 PM-2:00 PM. |
