"My name is Melvyn and I use she/her/hers pronouns. I love Daisy CHAIN because everyone deserves support, and Daisy CHAIN's free services make doula and lactation support accessible to all families. I am a Full Spectrum Doula, supporting folks before/during/and after birth, no matter what the outcome, and I also communicate with new and prospective clients! I feel so lucky to be doing this work that I love! When I was a brand new parent, I needed a postpartum doula to help me with nursing, and she was such an amazing support to me and my family. I love that I am now able to pay it forward and support families in my community!"

Hola!
"Hello! I’m Julia. I often go by Jules and my pronouns are she/her. I was born in a hospital in Santa Clara, CA and grew up in the Sierra Foothills. My call to support people started when I was very young and enjoyed caring for my siblings by reading us to bed or packing our lunches for school. My passion for perinatal health was ignited later as I sought connection with my community after college. I began volunteering as a youth mentor and within that role also supporting adolescent parents. Throughout these relationships, I witnessed the impact pregnancy, birth and parenting, intertwined with the inequities of the health system, had on them and it propelled me into birth work. I started attending births as a midwife’s assistant and soon after started my journey to become a full spectrum doula. I love that Daisy CHAIN offers a collective of perinatal services so our clients receive a continuation of care from pregnancy to the transition into parenting. I believe everyone deserves access to perinatal support and Daisy CHAIN helps make this possible in our community. "

"I wear many hats at Daisy CHAIN. But I most identify as a certified lactation specialist and a full spectrum doula. Also, I'm currently working to become an IBCLC and childbirth educator. During my Master of Social Work program, I focused on interventions tailored toward, and the unique needs of, the perinatal period, which lead me to this work. Since starting as a volunteer postpartum doula with Daisy CHAIN in 2019, I have grown my skills, interests, and capacity to serve and support my community. I now assist our lactation team and families through our lactation/feeding support text line and work to grow our program."

"My name is Johnny, she/they. I am a Lactation Education Specialist, Peer Support Specialist, and Certified Recovery Mentor on Daisy CHAIN’s Lactation Team. I was a doula on the Dandelion Street Team for 3 years prior to switching my focus to lactation and baby feeding support. I am especially passionate about supporting folks who are unhoused and/or affected by current or past substance use, with a trauma-informed, harm reduction approach. I was unhoused as a young adult, and struggled with substance use and trauma. I left my hometown by Lake Michigan, on Odawa land, at 22, and hitchhiked around the country until I landed in Eugene on Kalapuya land, where I began my journey in recovery. I had my youngest child at a birth center, and nursed her for 3 years. I also have two older daughters, now in their 20s, who came into my life when they were children. I’m so grateful to be able to support all sorts of individuals and families in their lactation and feeding journeys. I truly believe that everyone deserves trauma-informed, culturally aware, professional, and compassionate support."

I became a doula by first being cared for and supported by another doula in my own postpartum season. Having a person with evidence based, trauma informed training, as well as providing physical and emotional support during all reproductive individuals' experience is of deep value to me. Daisy CHAIN provides these services free of charge for all persons in Lane county. Forever grateful to be a small part alongside an amazing team of individuals who seek to support, observe client autonomy, and improve quality of medical care for all!

"I love DC because it offers the kind of support families need and deserve no matter what their situation!
I'm a board-certified Lactation Consultant and I see people for visits to help with feeding and lactation. I'm also the team lead and have the awesome opportunity to mentor and build the program. I have been in this work since 2006 in various roles, as a doula, birth assistant, support group leader, labor and delivery nurse, and a birth and postpartum nurse at a birth center. I feel so blessed to do work that means so much to me, and to have a loving family that has been my support and inspiration every step of the way." |
"Hi! I'm Sarah and my pronouns are she/her. I grew up near the Bitterroot River in Montana on the unceded lands of the Salish and Kootenai people, and a lot of the best parts of who I am today were shaped by that land & river system. I am so grateful that my path has brought me here to the meaningful work of offering lactation and peer support to folks on their parenting journeys. It is an honor to get to meet clients where they are at as parents and as people, and a gift to get to learn and grow alongside all of the amazing people on the Daisy CHAIN team as I work towards IBCLC licensure.
Becoming a parent in 2020 and experiencing a lot of isolation and instability during such a vulnerable time in my own life kindled a passion in my heart to show up in support of other folks in their times of postpartum and baby feeding. We all deserve to feel safe and seen and supported, especially as we navigate the deep waters of the pregnancy, postpartum, and baby feeding periods of our lives. From my own experience with lactation challenges early on, I know how vulnerable and overwhelming it can feel to navigate lactation and baby feeding, how much our circumstances can affect our experiences, and how crucial it can be to receive support during those times. I strongly believe in the necessity of trauma-informed and culturally relevant care, reproductive autonomy, and the accessibility of perinatal and lactation services and information for all, and I am so glad to be a part of an organization that embodies those values." |
"Hi! I'm Stephanie (she/her), DC's Grants Manager. I research, write, and manage grants to support DC's programs. I love Daisy C.H.A.I.N. because Daisy C.H.A.I.N. showed me love when I was a client. DC's services had an impact on my early parenting experience, and I wanted to give back so others could experience this too. I like to think of grant writing as a form of storytelling, and I'm proud to share Daisy C.H.A.I.N.'s stories. Outside of my job, I try to get outside as much as possible, and one of my favorite things is going on meandering neighborhood walks. Fun fact: I want to be a doula someday!"

"I feel very strongly that people who are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or don’t want to be pregnant should not be confined to choices given by the medical industrial complex. People know their own bodies so they should be the one driving the birth; the center of attention for any of their birth team. My career as a Full Spectrum Doula came to me when my daughter was pregnant with her second child. Her first birth was very traumatic, with hemorrhaging and a bad reaction to one of the meds she was given. She passed out and I watched at least 6 doctors stand around and argue about what medication was given and when. The helpless feeling of watching my daughter slip away from us was too much. She made it through, but she doesn’t remember it as a good birth. As a result I have certificates as a Full Spectrum Doula, a StillBirthDay Doula, a Fertility and Reproductive Health Doula, a Perinatal Loss Doula, and an End of Life Doula. I was there to assist with her second birth, and with the help of an amazing midwife, she experienced a calm, happy birth."

I realized i wanted to be a doula after the birth of my first child. I learned the words "doula" and "midwife" for the first time while reading one of the many pregnancy books i stumbled across at the thrift store. Because of this book, i learned what birth (and parenting!) could look like with autonomy and empowerment. I knew i had to help make this support accessible to more people. Through Daisy CHAIN i learned about Full Spectrum Doula care and became passionate about being present for folks through their postpartum experience; whenever and however their pregnancy ended. I love Daisy CHAIN because it makes this human right of support accessible to more people, and embodies a culture of care and commitment to inclusivity. I have navigated the majority of my postpartum and parenting journey solo, and am passionate about supporting folks with similar identities as myself, who may not see themselves represented in reproductive and parenting spaces.

Hi! My name is Quincy! I am 31 and a mother of a wild three year named Aspen and a curious nine month old named Bodhi. Throughout my own experience with postpartum and motherhood I developed a passion for postpartum mental health awareness. I believe the postpartum experience is one of the most vulnerable time periods and all are deserving of gentle support as they walk through it. Having a doula during my own birth and postpartum experience allowed me to heal in the ways I needed. I am so grateful to be a part of the Daisy CHAIN team and have the opportunity to be a source of care as folks navigate new parenthood. I so look forward to being a part of the journey!

Hi everyone, my name is Sammy and I use she/her pronouns. I am very excited to join the team as a Bilingual doula at Daisy CHAIN. What drew me to working at DC was my personal experience of being a doula client at DC. All the support I received during and after my second pregnancy helped immensely. I want to be able to support birthing people in the way they need just as I was supported.

In addition to playing the guitar and violin, I enjoy growing medicinal plants and crafting.

Hello Everyone, My name is Nessa I'm a full spectrum Doula/ Peer support/parent. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest for all my life. I identify as a person in recovery, as recovery is not a linear journey.
My passion to work with the community as a Peer is very special to my heart. I was a teen parent and could have really benefited from the support that was not available in this community at that time in my life. The opportunity to help the local population who suffers from mental health as well as substance abuse to give people who seek sobriety the support and access to resources that I could have utilized when I was in active addiction. I'm looking forward to connecting with clients and supporting them through each of their individual journeys! I'm in line with the message Daisy CHAINS message is sending and offering to the community. In my free time I love to take walks by the river, anything outdoors, including softball recreationally. I love all things music, including festivals and concerts. I grew up in a multicultural family, that being said, I have witnessed struggles and am able to understand the lack of resources that come with being a person of color. We are a resilient bunch and stay true to one another through thick and thin. |
Hello Everyone! My name is Anastacia, I like to go by Tasha. I am a full spectrum Doula/Peer Support/Parent. I have 4 beautiful children who range from 15 years to 3 years old! I moved to Lane county about two years ago, and I grew up in the Linn/Benton county area. I was a teen parent and I am someone who identifies as a person in recovery. What brought me to Daisy CHAIN is the amazing team that works closely with those who are houseless, and struggle with substance abuse and mental health. I am someone who has always been passionate about helping others in our community. I too struggled with my own addiction and my own mental health and have been on my recovery journey since 2019. I have worked as a Peer Support for a little over 2 years and love how Daisy CHAIN, TRULY, uses a non-judgement, harm-reduction and trauma-informed approach. I am so excited and honored to be on such an incredible team. I'm looking forward to connecting with clients and supporting them through each of their individual journeys into and through parenthood, and to obtain resources. We are all resilient in our own individual ways and we all deserve chances to thrive!

"Hi everyone, my name is Felicia and I use she/her pronouns. I love being outside during the summer time, I enjoy hiking, exploring new water falls, and bbq-ing with my family. I'm the mother of two wonderful kids! I had my oldest when I was a senior in high school and graduated a month before my due date. Being a teen mom & not really having much postpartum support outside my mom and sisters, I struggled a lot with my own mental health. Later on I had my second daughter and was diagnosed with Postpartum Psychosis. Being a teen mom and later experiencing postpartum psychosis has really been one of the main reasons that drew me toward Daisy CHAIN. The services that DC offers during pregnancy, the non judgmental environment, and the continuation of care after pregnancy are just a few reasons why I’m so excited to be apart of Daisy CHAIN."
